The final round at the Reserve Club at St. James will begin tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. Elon’s players will play in the first five groups of the day, with Ackroyd being the last player on the team to tee off at 8:50 a.m.
A resignation, seven transfer portal entries and a nationwide search for a new coach all transpired in the span of 10 days for Elon University men’s basketball program. What seemed like an intense period eventually turned in a new direction when the team found its next leader: Billy Taylor.

The second round at the Reserve Club at St. James will begin tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. Elon’s tee times begin at 10:10 a.m.
This news comes after former men’s basketball head coach Mike Schrage announced his resignation as head coach and transferred to Duke University for a new role. Schrage will serve as a special assistant to the head coach, Jon Scheyer.
The Elon University men’s club volleyball team’s biggest test yet is the 2022 National Collegiate Volleyball Association Championships in Phoenix, Arizona, today through Saturday, according to senior libero Dave Derosa.
Seven Elon University men’s basketball players have officially entered the transfer portal, including six of the team’s top seven scorers from last season. Four of the transfers have come in the last week following Mike Schrage’s resignation as Elon’s head coach.
This was the first game of an eight game home stand for Elon. The Phoenix plays the University of North Carolina Asheville in a three game series this weekend, with the first game scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.
Four players have now entered the transfer portal following Mike Schrage’s resignation as head coach last week. Eight of the team’s top nine scorers from last season have either entered the portal or will graduate this offseason.
This is the first time since 1981 that an Elon team has won a National Championship and the first time in the program’s history that the team won the NDA championship. It was also the first time the team brought a pom routine to Nationals.
Burford joins Hunter McIntosh, Hunter Woods, Zac Ervin and Ben Daugherty in the transfer portal. Burford’s decision comes a week after Mike Schrage announced his resignation as Elon’s head coach.
The Phoenix will be looking to capitalize on this win as the team looks to make a mid-season push. Elon returns to action on Tuesday, April 12, against the East Carolina University Pirates in a non-conference game.

Now 2-6 in Colonial Athletic Association games, Elon sits in seventh place out of eight teams in the conference standings. Only the top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the CAA Tournament, which Elon will host this May. Elon and Charleston will play again tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the final game of the weekend series.
With back-to-back losses in Colonial Athletic Association games, Elon now has a 1-2 conference record. Elon returns home for a game against the University of Delaware on April 16.
This is the first time in the program's history the team has won first place at the NDA National Championship.
Elon is now 2-5 in Colonial Athletic Association games. The two teams will play again today at 1 p.m.
Elon competes today at 4:49 p.m. in the Pom Division I finals and at 7:55 p.m. in the preliminary round of the Hip Hop Division I competition.
The decision comes two days after Elon head coach Mike Schrage announced his resignation. McIntosh was Schrage’s first ever signee as head coach at Elon in 2019.
