Leah Daniel surpasses 1,000 career kills in win at College of Charleston

Elon University’s volleyball team completed a weekend sweep of the College of Charleston Cougars with a four set victory on Saturday, Sept. 18. Senior outside hitter Leah Daniel surpassed 1,000 kills for her career during the frame. Daniel is the first Elon player to reach the milestone since Kam Terry did so in 2018.

Elon football falls 44-10 against Appalachian State

For the first time since 2012, Elon University’s football team traveled to a sold out Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone for a road game against Appalachian State. Despite a tight first half, the Phoenix fell 44-10 to the Mountaineers. The Phoenix (1-2) return home next week to take on William & Mary on Family Weekend.

Elon volleyball wins CAA opener

The Phoenix avenged their losses to the College of Charleston Cougars on Friday, Sept. 17 in its first Colonial Athletic Association match. With this win, the Phoenix improved to 6-5 in the season. The team will move forward in CAA play on Saturday, Sept. 18 when they face the Cougars again.

Elon’s women’s soccer team earns third straight shutout

Elon University’s women’s soccer team defeated the Furman University Paladins 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 17 in its last non-conference match of the season. The Phoenix have now shut out its last three opponents. The team has not allowed a goal since its match on Sept. 5 against North Carolina State University.

With a blistering time of 16:49 in the women’s 5k race, Elon University junior Maria Ahm placed first in the Firetower Project cross country meet in Boone, N.C.

Elon to adopt new learning management system following fall review of Moodle platform

Students logging into their courses next academic year may notice a shift in how assignments, grades and course materials are organized as Elon transitions from Moodle, its old learning management system, to Canvas by Instructure, its new one. Around 15 students gathered in Moseley Center on Feb. 24 for the State of the Union watch party, hosted by Elon Votes. The broadcast was President Trump’s first State of the Union of his second term and lasted a record 108 minutes, according to AP News. The previous record for the longest presidential address to Congress was 100 minutes and was set by Trump last year.
