Ian Taylor '24 is studying journalism, strategic communication, and German at Elon University. Taylor focuses on Elon sports and recreation in his reporting and photography. In his free time, Taylor enjoys reading a good book, listening to music, or playing sports casually with his friends. He hopes to work as a journalist or communication officer for a sports team after graduation.

Marc Reeves earns 100th career win in CAA opener against Delaware

Elon University’s men’s soccer team began its Colonial Athletic Association conference campaign with a 1-0 win against the Delaware Blue Hens at Rudd Field. The game was won with a solitary goal courtesy of Elon University junior and captain Jeppe Jordoson. The victory marked Head Coach Marc Reeves’ 100th career win.

Marching through a pandemic

Marching band, like all other clubs and organizations on Elon’s campus, was given a series of guidelines by the administration in order to conduct operations safely and limit the spread of the coronavirus. For the band, these guidelines led to shorter practices and practicing in small groups organized by instrument rather than as a whole, while remaining at least six feet apart.

Club fencing struggles with COVID guidelines

Despite Elon University providing recommendations to keep club sports on campus safe, one sport — club fencing — decided to suspend their operations right away. Will Holzman, senior and club fencing president, cited multiple reasons for why the club thought it was best to not hold a season.
