Alamance County judge dismisses Confederate monument lawsuit

A superior court judge from the Alamance County Historic Courthouse dismissed a lawsuit Sept. 13 from the North Carolina NAACP requesting the removal of the Confederate monument in downtown Graham.

11% of the freshman class voted in Elon University Student Government Association elections with a total of 179 ballots cast. Last year, a total of 552 ballots were cast. The results were announced Sept. 12 in Moseley Center. 

Elon University hosts first booster clinic of 2022-23 academic year

Elon University will host a booster clinic Sept. 12 from 2 to 6 p.m. in Alumni Gym. Students can sign up to get a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. In order to get a booster shot, it must be at least two months since the last vaccine dose or booster. 

Elon University named No. 1 national university for excellence in undergraduate teaching by U.S. News & World Report for second consecutive year

Elon University is ranked No. 1 for excellence in undergraduate teaching for the second consecutive year by the U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” Guide, which released rankings Sept. 12. The university also received a No. 6 ranking in the “Most Innovative,” gaining three spots from last year, and was ranked No. 89 overall among national universities.

Now, she owns her own company, Sweet B Cookies. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, she had to close and find another job, but Shaw said as she gets back into business, she never lost sight of her dream.

Elon University students react to death of Queen Elizabeth II

British monarch Queen Elizabeth II died Thursday. She was 96. Doctors had placed the queen under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Scotland Sept. 8 after they became concerned about her health, according to a statement from Buckingham Palace.
