Elon University has hired Susan Rosenstiel as the next head coach of its women's golf program, Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley announced June 4.

Rosenstiel arrives after 23 seasons with the University of Alabama, where she most recently served as an assistant coach. During her tenure, the Crimson Tide won the 2012 NCAA Championship, captured three Southeastern Conference titles and made 15 NCAA Championship appearances.

She was named the National Golf Coaches Association's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2010 and has coached 13 players who earned Ladies Professional Golf Association tour cards.

"I am humbled and honored to be joining the incredible staff of Elon University," Rosenstiel said in a press release from Elon Athletics. "From the first phone calls with Jeffrey Scheible and Jenn Strawley, I knew that this was where I wanted to be coaching."

The hiring comes after 27-year Elon women’s golf head coach Chris Dockrill retired at the end of the 2025-2026 season.

The Phoenix placed fourth last season in the Coastal Athletic Association tournament.

Rosenstiel will officially begin her tenure March 1, 2027, after completing service requirements for pension within the University of Alabama system. Until then, former Alabama head coach Mic Potter will serve as Elon's interim head coach and assistant coach in his first year with the program.

Potter, a Women's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame member, worked alongside Rosenstiel for 21 seasons at Alabama.

“I could not be more pleased that Susan has earned the opportunity to be named the next women’s golf head coach at Elon,” Potter said in the same press release. “I look forward to supporting Susan in this new role. I know she will do great things!”
