Elon University alumni become hidden heroes of theatre

The show must go on” is a common mantra in theatre, and the Omicron variant is proving that it wouldn’t be possible for the show to go on without swings, understudies and standbys. These performers cover the lead and ensemble tracks in a production and are becoming a new kind of essential worker within the realm of theatre.

Elon University Jewish community heals through unity

In the spirit of teaching others to tolerate each other, Minkowitz said that the Chabad center will be offering a new course called “outsmarting antisemitism” starting this spring. The course is not offered for credit through Elon but is open to all in an effort to stop acts of antisemitism before it occurs.

Campus to be closed Friday Jan. 21

According to Dooley, the opening night performance of Sense and Sensibility on Friday, Jan. 21 will be canceled. Reservations are still available online, however, for the remaining January and February performances.

Local animal shelters seek to honor Betty White, her legacy

Shelters across the nation are participating in the “Betty White Challenge” on Jan. 17 — what would have been the actress’ 100th birthday — to honor her legacy. What started out as a tweet following her death on Dec. 31, 2021 has now grown into a viral challenge spanning the country.

Campus to have delayed opening Jan. 18

Elon’s campus will delay opening until 12 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 18, according to an email from Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley, because of the freezing weather conditions expected overnight on Jan. 17.

As the manager of Alamance County Mobile Library, Susie Flores works to deliver literary and some electronic needs to those who need it around the community. The mobile library travels around the county, providing the same services as the physical branches.
