Mother remembers Elon junior's kindness

The mother of Demitri Allison remembered her son as a “kind and gentle, thoughtful person who was so humble,” speaking the day after he fell to his death from a 10-story building. Allison, 21, was an Elon University junior who died Wednesday afternoon after falling at a residence hall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A native of Cornelius, N.C., Allison was a wide receiver on Elon’s football team. Dave and Lisa Hartman took in Allison eight years ago when “he was going through a rough time,” and he became a part of their family, Lisa Hartman told Elon Local News and The Pendulum in a phone interview Thursday. “We were really proud of Demitri,” Lisa Hartman said.

Elon athletes tweet respects after football player's death

Junior Demitri Allison died Wednesday after falling from a 10-story residence hall at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Allison, a member of the football team, left campus Tuesday and friends, teammates and family asked police to look for Allison because "they were concerned for his well-being and emotional state." Shortly after Smith Jackson, vice president for student life, sent an email to Elon University students regarding Allison's death, a number of athletes took to Twitter to pay their respects to Allison.

Elon junior dead after fall at UNC Chapel Hill

An Elon University student died Wednesday after falling from a 10-story building at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, according to an email from Smith Jackson, vice president for student life. Demitri Allison, 21 and a native of Cornelius, N.C., was a junior management major and wide receiver on the Elon football team. There will be a gathering of friends at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Rhodes Stadium open to all.

Men's Soccer earns shared CAA title

Last-minute goal clinches men's soccer share of conference title

Senior night ended in dramatic fashion on Halloween, as the No. 24-ranked Elon University men's soccer team pulled out a last-minute victory in a crucial Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) finale against College of Charleston in sudden-death. The game, otherwise marred by untimely penalties and missed opportunities, was scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation as well as the ten-minute overtime period.
