Elon University Chinese club celebrates full recognition on campus

Two rejections and two years of waiting is what the Chinese club at Elon University has been through. From the first and second club proposals rejected in 2017 and 2018, to finally getting accepted with a provisional club status in 2020, the club has been through a lot. But after two years of waiting, the organization finally became fully recognized this spring semester.

Burlington bands raise money for music department

Cummings High School marching band hosted a Battle of the Bands concert on April 9, inviting four local schools and universities to fill the gym with the sounds of drums. With new school funding, Band Director Greg Milton’s band now has enough instruments for each person, but the challenges have not gone away.

Global Education Center reaches less than half of strategic plan goals in first years

Only seven out of 52 goals have been accomplished in the Elon University Global Education Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan. Created in 2019, the master plan was set to be achieved between 2020 and 2025, with goals curated by members across the GEC to serve Elon students and their global studies from a DEI standpoint.

Supreme court confirms validity of majority draft opinion, decision not final

As of May 3, Chief Justice Roberts has issued a statement and confirmed the leaked decision, but said the decision is not final. He called the leak a “betrayal” and “egregious breach.” Roberts has directed the Marshal of the Court to launch an investigation into the leak.
