Burlington residents grateful for new, outdoor gym

The completion of Burlington’s outdoor gym makes it the third one of its kind in the Alamance County area, along with the ones located on Elon University’s campus and in Mebane. Each court is essentially a mirrored version of one another — containing variants in color and visual aesthetic — as they were all designed by the National Fitness Campaign.

Elon University reports uptick in COVID-19 cases

Elon University reported 189 cases in the week ending Aug. 29, up from 23 the week before. An email from Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley Aug. 29 informed students of the uptick in cases. University physician Dr. Ginette Archinal said the increase doesn’t surprise her.

For the second straight season, sophomore midfielder Scott Vatne scored a crucial goal for the Elon University men’s soccer team in its first regular season game, as a successful header in the 25th minute proved to be the game-winning tally in Elon’s 2-0 victory against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers.

Meal plan vs. meal prep: the cost of eating habits at Elon University

In dining halls, students are given access to a variety of stations that can cater to different dietary needs and restrictions. According to the Elon Dining Website, dining hall meals are made with “responsibly sourced” ingredients, 20% of which ​​are grown, harvested or produced within 150 miles of campus and contain no “artificial ingredients, additives or synthetic chemicals.”

Biden announces plan to provide student loan cancellation for millions

President Joe Biden announced his plan to provide $10,000 in debt cancellation for millions of Americans and up to $10,000 more for people with great financial need. The long-awaited plan was part of Biden’s original campaign promises and is eligible only for current students who took out loans prior to July 1, 2022. Biden will deliver remarks on the plan at 2:15 p.m.

Elon community disappointed with Mediterranean Deli closure

Located on the ground floor of Park Place, Mediterranean Deli — often called Med Deli — served salads, spreads, baked goods and sandwiches. The restaurant opened in 2018 with an invitation from the university. Mediterranean Deli’s other location in Chapel Hill will remain open.
