Sydney Spencer

Sydney Spencer '26 is a journalism major with minors in sport management and statistics at Elon University. Spencer is the sports editor for Elon News Network. She is also a multimedia reporter covering sports and local news. While not reporting, Spencer enjoys singing, watching baseball, and spending time with her family and friends. Spencer hopes to work as a clubhouse reporter for a Major League Baseball team after graduation.

Elon University baseball excels on Senior Day

Heading into its final home game of the season, the Elon University baseball team looked to complete a few milestones with a win. The Phoenix did just that, winning 9-6 against the North Carolina A&T Aggies, and in doing so it earned its 30th victory on the season, its final home victory and punched its ticket in the Colonial Athletic Association postseason.

Elon University baseball sweeps series, fights cancer with haircuts

Going for the series sweep and the eighth straight Colonial Athletic Association victory, the Elon University baseball team showed out strong, shutting out the Delaware Blue Hens 1-0. But the best part came after, when the team stayed to stand up in the fight against pediatric cancer, auctioning off haircuts to raise $7,738 for Vs. Cancer.

Elon University women’s basketball pursues CAA championship

After the final sound of the buzzer March 2, the Elon University women’s basketball team earned one more home victory and walked off the court at Schar Center for the last time in the 2022-23 season. Five players, including graduate student guard Lenaejha Evans and graduate student center Evonna McGill, walked off the court for their final time in maroon and gold.

Elon University women’s basketball ends home season on a high note

In its final home game of the 2022-23 season, the Elon University women’s basketball team defeated the University of North Carolina Wilmington 52-42. A back and forth battle for the Phoenix, with a small comeback by UNCW, ended in an emotional night for the seniors and graduate students as they left the court at Schar Center one final time. Graduate student guard Lenaejha Evans came to Elon for her final college season after playing for two seasons at Rider University. She said stepping off of the court was bittersweet.
