Elon’s Gender and LGBTQIA Center hosted Fall Pride Fest Oct. 27, where students and the local community could learn and celebrate various identities, play games and hang out with friends. The GLC plans to host a Spring Pride Fest next semester.
Musical duo Social House will open the Elon University Student Union Board fall concert Nov. 2. To see both Social House and Verdes at Elon, students can purchase tickets for $10 until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 1 through the Elon ticketing site. The third day of Greek Week was Philanthropy Day, and members of the fraternity and sorority community selected Habitat for Humanity as the week’s philanthropy. Kappa Delta raised the most money and totaled $15,313. At the end of Day 3, Team 5 surpassed Team 1 in the standings to take the lead.
Oct. 23 to Oct 29 markes the 12th annual Asexual Awareness Week, or “Ace Week.” During this autumn week, the asexual community puts together a campaign for asexual awareness both online and in local communities.
Hosted by the Truitt Center and co-sponsored by EMPRESS and the Surtal Bollywood dance team, the Diwali celebration at Elon University included henna, food, a dance performance by the Surtal and sparklers.
The second day of Greek Week featured a field day on the Phi Beta Kappa Commons. Affiliated students had opportunities to earn points for their team by participating in events or showing up in support. Team 2 was the only team that moved up in the rankings on Tuesday.
Through Oct. 28, 16 greek organizations will participate in contests and fundraising efforts as a way to unify the greek community. This year’s theme is “back and better than ever.”
The 2022 North Carolina State Fair ran from Oct. 13 to Oct. 23 and welcomed over 854,368 visitors, according to the fair’s attendance records as of Oct. 23. Though the fair is yet to reach its pre-pandemic attendance levels, the number of visitors has increased since last year.

The university informed him that high winds from Hurricane Ian uprooted trees on campus — the same trees his company had planted only months before.

Hurricane Ian grounded Fry’s family in Florida, and they were stuck waiting out the storm and attending to damage afterward.
