The Elon University men’s basketball team was unable to send Alumni Gym out on a high note, falling in the closing act of the storied facility to the Dukes of James Madison University 90-84. Senior forward Brian Dawkins was hot early in the first half. He scored eight of Elon’s first 10 points. He would finish the first 20 minutes with 13 points and an assist. However he was unable to help out down the stretch, fouling out with 1:48 to go. Dawkins ended his final home game as a Phoenix with 25 points and an assist.

On Feb. 26, the Black History Month dance concert will take place in McCrary at 7:30 p.m. The concert features Elon students who study dance or went to Ghana over winter term. The show will exhibit West African dances, rhythms and costumes.
Ripple Conference inspires and sparks dialogue between interfaith students
The Elon University men’s basketball team fell to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival Northeastern University on Saturday night at Alumni gym 81-59, marking the team’s fifth consecutive loss as it gears up for next week’s CAA tournament in Charleston, South Carolina. The Phoenix struggled to find its groove early, largely due to Northeastern’s suffocating defense that generated twelve points off ten turnovers in the first half. This saw the visiting Huskies lead for 17 of the first 20 minutes, and head into the halftime break with a 41-28 advantage. Northeastern was able to maintain control of the game throughout the final 20 minutes, effectively pushing its winning streak up to seven games.
The Elon University baseball team (2-5) won its second game of the season against the Marshall University Thundercats 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Latham Park. The game was filled with strong defense as the Phoenix put up zero errors and one double play. Sophomore starting pitcher Kyle Brnovich earned the win, giving up one run after pitching 7.2 innings.
