Sparking interest in young voters: Sen. Bernie Sanders speaks on issues important to college students

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) spoke at Berg Middle School in Newton, Iowa just 23 days before the 2020 Iowa caucuses. While he spent the majority of the town hall speaking on the issues of universal health care, voting rights and climate change, he also addressed universal child care, alleviating student debt and his issues with President Donald Trump.

Marianne Williamson suspends campaign for President of the United States

Long-shot presidential candidate Marianne Williamson has suspended her campaign for the democratic presidential nomination. In a release on her website, Williamson said "the ideas we discussed are important, and I hope they’ll find seed in other ways and in other campaigns."

This fall, the Student Government Association added a National Pan-Hellenic Council senator position, which was filled by senior Arianne Payne. This position was added in the hope of better representing the interests of historically black sororities and fraternities at Elon University.

SGA holds its final business meeting of 2018-2019 legislative year

SGA held its final business meeting of the 2019-2020 legislative year following its election announcements. To wrap up the year, the senate approved three special allocations and approved two pieces of legislation. One piece gave women more access to hygiene products and the other educated the body about environmental concerns in Alamance County.
