Where you can get the COVID-19 vaccine in Alamance County

In Group 3 frontline essential workers are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services defines frontline essential workers in categories that include: childcare and pre-K -12 workers, higher education and support staff, essential goods, food and agriculture, government and community service, public health, public safety and transportation.

Rabbi Sandra Lawson to leave Elon

Lawson said she will be accepting a new position as the director of diversity, equity and inclusion at Reconstructing Judaism, a modern Jewish organization dedicated to progressively shaping the religion. According to Lawson, she’ll still be a resident of Alamance County and keeping in touch with any students that still want her to be their rabbi.

Faces of Homelessness panel to take place virtually

The Kernodle Center for Civic Life is hosting a virtual panel that will include three people who have faced or currently facing homelessness. This year, the event is taking place on Zoom. The Faces of Homelessnes panel is assembled by the National Coalition for the Homeless and sponsored by the Elon chapter of Campus Kitchen.

Elon professors uncertain, concerned about classes with Level 2 Alert

Elon University professors are uncertain whether or not to move their classes online after the university moved to the level 2 alert due to the latest increase of positive COVID-19 cases on campus. Professors already have the option to choose what method of instruction best suits their needs, but more are considering shifting their curriculum to an online setting starting next week. According to the Director Elon University News Bureau Owen Covington, no faculty is required to shift their classes online.
