Dennis Riddell has won the Republican nomination for North Carolina House of Representatives 64th district.

In the race for the North Carolina House of Representatives 64th district — which represents the town of Elon and northern Alamance County — there are two Republicans vying for the party nomination. Incumbent Dennis Riddell is being challenged by Peter McClelland a lawyer and Elon Law graduate.

Some of the issues that Riddell is running on include reducing taxes, creating less regulation for small businesses, and education. McClelland is campaigning on reducing cybercrime, bringing more businesses to Alamance County, and infrastructure.

There will not be a Democratic primary for the 64th district. The republican candidate will face off against Eric Henry in the general election in November.

Results were held until 8:10 p.m.
