NC law would require rideshares to have an illuminated sign

The illuminated sign on a car showing an Uber or Lyft driver arriving is thought to make ride-sharing services safer, according to John Bell, house majority leader of the North Carolina General Assembly. He is sponsoring a law that would require ride-sharing cars to have a “consistent and distinctive illuminated sign.”

Harwood named first-ever Elon CAA Golfer of the Year

Junior golfer William Harwood was selected the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Golfer of the Year as selected by the nine conference head coaches.  This award makes the junior from Colombia, South Carolina, the first CAA Golfer of the Year in Elon Univeristy history. Going into the 2018-2019 season, Harwood was just hoping to tally five top-10 finishes and two individual wins as a way to step in for loss of experienced seniors.

Women's Track and Field looks to claim first conference title in two years

With the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Track and Field Championships set to kick off this Friday, the Phoenix will be looking for a shot at redemption. The championship for Women’s Track and Field will be held at Elon University for the first time since 2016. Coincidentally, that was also the last time the Phoenix took home the CAA title.

NC educators, supporters rally in Raleigh

North Carolina educators, school staff and supporters gathered at the Red4Ed NC march and rally in the state capital. They marched to the legislative building to advocate for raising wages, mental and physical health, benefits and degree compensation.

First Latino-based fraternity established at Elon

Sophomore Kevin Alvarado knew the first day he stepped on Elon University’s campus as a student that he wanted to establish a Latino-based fraternity. He knew founding an organization at Elon wasn’t going to be easy or happen automatically. But he knew giving the Latinx community more representation in Elon’s greek life mattered.
