Elon tennis falls in CAA semifinals

It was a disappointing day on Saturday for Elon tennis at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Both the men and women played in semifinal matches at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament, and unfortunately, both saw their seasons come to a close.

In lieu of Earth Day, coming up on April 22, the Office of Sustainability is putting on Earth Week: a celebration for the earth, and a reminder that Elon University’s efforts to protect the environment persist year-round.  Events will be held throughout the week to raise awareness of sustainability issues and the resources the school offers to combat them.

Greensboro still remains under local state of emergency

A state of emergency has been issued in Greensboro after a tornado ripped through the area Sunday. The National Weather Service confirmed that an F-2 tornado with 135 mph winds touched down in Greensboro, just 25 minutes west from Elon. The storm caused significant damages to homes and nearby schools and left one person dead after being hit by a tree while driving.

Elon to open Schar Center against UNC

Elon University has announced that the Phoenix will be hosting the preseason national No. 9 team in the country, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels to ring in the opening of the Schar Center on Friday, Nov. 9, according to an email sent across the university.

Mebane bookstore provides escape for readers

For just over five months, Mebane resident Taylor Collier has worked to create an inclusive space and community for book lovers inside a small corner in Sweet Grace Market in Mebane. Her new bookstore, No Bad Books, has been open since Nov. 1, selling a variety of books alongside hosting events like book clubs and book release parties.
