Elon University lacrosse defeated by Towson

The Phoenix is now 5-7 in the season and will travel to play the James Madison University Dukes on April 9 for their third Colonial Athletic Association game of the season. The Dukes are ranked 11th in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse with a record of 7-4.

Suffolk natives become softball standouts

Taylor Cherry and Reese Byrd are now freshmen softball pitchers at North Carolina colleges — Cherry at Elon University and Byrd at the University of North Carolina Greensboro — creating a connection beyond their hometown.

Nadine Jose elected Elon University student body president

Nadine Jose has been elected Elon University’s student body president with 55% of the votes. The results are final with 1,817 votes cast in this year’s election. Jose this year has served as the School of Communications senator and previously as a campus programs senator.

Citizens speak against Aspen Avenue construction

At the Board of Alderman work session on March 28, Aldermen discussed a resolution about the Aspen Avenue development, a new solid waste and recycling contract, and a public hearing for a rezoning request. The board has also transitioned to a new schedule and will meet on the second Tuesday and the fourth Monday each month.
