Following her voice: Elon senior breaks into music industry

Elon University senior Rosie Darling has been writing songs since she was 11, and now is on a mission to release one single a month for the rest of the year.  The singer-songwriter from Canton, Massachusetts dropped her first single, “I Miss U,” in June. Though a strategic communications major minoring in psychology, Darling is sure that music is something she will do for the rest of her life.

New deputy athletic director comes to Elon with SEC experience

Elon University Athletics Director Dave Blank announced last month that he would be adding a new position to his staff the same time he announced who would be filling the role. Mike Ward was named the deputy athletics director for Elon University Sept. 18. With his background, it might be surprising to sports fans why he made the move to Elon.

Tuning in to the sounds of Elon: behind the scenes of WSOE

Forty years ago, the Wonderful Sounds of Elon radio station, WSOE, broadcasted its first record ever through its 89.3 FM frequency. The record was “More Than a Feeling” by Boston. Today, the record is set to be framed and placed in the WSOE office built last year in McEwen School of Communications.

NTIM: Do we have a right to values?

  So far in college, I’ve learned it is impossible to view U.S. politics from only one perspective. Like the range of students at a liberal arts college, the combinations of viewpoints are endless. Notions of representation and freedoms become jumbled in rhetoric about identity politics in this era of globalization.  We grapple daily with our differing interests, occupations and political affiliations. These three, together, are derived from our self-imposed rules and values.

EDITORIAL: Elon's ninth president faces challenges in new role

On Oct. 9, Elon University announced its newest President-elect, Constance “Connie” Ledoux Book, who will be the university’s first female president. This announcement came after a closed eight-monthlong search that left many Elon community members wanting more information.  Book is undoubtedly very qualified for this job — her experiences in her varying roles at Elon and at her previous institution, The Citadel, show her commitment to and passion for higher education. Many students, faculty and staff members who knew or worked with her during her time here at Elon showed excitement for her return.

Activist by day, mother by night

Elon University students have always been part of a busy campus culture. Students often have to balance classes, meetings and working on-campus jobs. Citlaly Mora felt these pressures while she was a student at Elon just a few years ago. The Elon alumna graduated in 2016, and had to balance all of the above — and more.

Students pleased with 'progressive' presidential appointee

This morning, the Elon University Board of Trustees announced that Connie Book will be stepping into the shoes of Leo Lambert March 1, 2018 as Elon's ninth president. But students are most excited about the fact that Book will be the university's first female president in its 128-year history.

Connie Ledoux Book introduced to Elon community in Alumni Gym

Elon University announced the selection of Connie Ledoux Book as its next president on Monday morning. Book was introduced to the Elon Community in an event in Alumni Gym on Monday afternoon following introductions from Kerii Anderson, Elon trustee, and Wes Elingburg, head of the presidential search committee.
