Steven House issues an update on petition to unionize

Provost Steven House updated Elon University on a petition previously filed by the Service Employees International Union, Workers United Southern Region (SEIU) on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018. In the petition, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) demanded that the university hold a vote among adjunct, limited-term and visiting faculty members on the subject of forming a labor union at Elon.

Elon University men's basketball came out with a win in the final seconds of the game against the University of Delaware on Thursday, Jan. 31, in Schar Center. This second straight victory marks the team's first pair of back-to-back wins this season.

Making a move forward

The drive home from her son’s 21st birthday dinner changed Nita Skillman’s life. Her car was hit by a drunk driver. Skillman has struggled to walk ever since. Since her accident in 2015, Skillman has struggled performing basic tasks with her lack of mobility, but a class project might be changing that.

Town of Elon passes ordinance restricting smoking in public areas

Smoking, vaping or carrying a lighted tobacco product will now be prohibited in all public areas of the town of Elon, according to the town's updated Code of Ordinances. This includes public sidewalks in the town of Elon and downtown Elon. A violation of this ordinance will result in a verbal warning or a $50 fine.
