Elon University Hillel pushes to represent growing Jewish community on academic calendar

With Elon’s Jewish community in mind, senior Lindsay Rosenzweig, co-president of Elon Hillel, said Hillel is pushing for Elon to add Yom Kippur as a day off to the academic calendar. Rosenzweig said that Elon’s consistently growing Jewish population is also grounds for addressing this change now, compared to in previous years.

Local retirement community contributes aid to Ukraine

Residents at The Village at Brookwood have spent the past few weeks clearing their closets and filling suitcases. The Burlington retirement community has been collecting items to add to North Carolina’s aid and donations to Ukraine and neighboring European countries.

Students returning for the 2022-23 academic year will pay a sticker price for tuition and fees that is 9% higher than what they paid this year. For some, the new total puts Elon’s cost beyond their current means.

ELN: Elonthon raised almost 40% less at first in-person event in three years

Elonthon raised a total of $134,364 for kids at Duke Children’s Hospital this weekend. The 13.1-hour event raised 39% less than it did at its last fully in-person event in 2019. The total that year was nearly $350,000 and the event was 24 hours long.
