Celebrating 20 years at Rhodes Stadium

For the first 92 years of Elon University football, the program did not have a stadium on campus to call home.  That all changed in 2001 when Rhodes Stadium opened up, with the opening of an on-campus venue built specifically to host Elon football.

Enrollment and exemptions: complying with Elon University's vaccine mandate

Vaccine exemptions forms rolled into Dean of Students Jana Lynn Patterson’s email when the university declared a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all students. While the university reached 96% of its undergraduate students fully vaccinated, only 307 vaccine exemptions were approved. There’s an additional number that Elon has reached: zero student disenrollments after the vaccine requirement.

Elon volleyball falls to Duke

DURHAM, NC — Elon University’s women’s volleyball team lost to the Duke University Blue Devils in straight sets (20-25, 22-25, 16-25). Despite absorbing much of the Blue Devils attack, the Phoenix was unable to generate enough offense to take a set in Durham.

Elon University Class of 2020 to return for in-person commencement

Like other universities across the country, Elon University’s class of 2020 was unable to hold an in-person commencement ceremony because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, after a year and a half of planning, the class of 2020 will return to campus for the long-awaited event on Sept. 5 Under the Oaks.

In efforts to support formerly incarcerated women and advocate for social justice issues in Alamance County, Kristen Powers joined Benevolence Farm as interim executive director. Now, nearly four years later, she hopes to give back to the residents of Benevolence Farm through launching a tiny house initiative — just one more way to get residents back on their feet.

Elon University Life Trustee Wallace L. Chandler dies at 94

Wallace L. Chandler, who served three years as chair of the Board of Trustees and adviser to Elon presidents died Aug. 25 at the age of 94. In 1967, Chandler was elected to the board of trustees and was elected a life trustee in 2008. His service to the university spanned more than four decades.

Last season was strange for every Elon University sports team due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Phoenix men’s soccer program had it no different. Their very first game of the season against Liberty was canceled and they only played eight games, less than half the number they play in a normal campaign.

Blacksburg, VA — Elon’s women’s volleyball team began its 2021 campaign with two matches on Friday Aug. 27, 2021 at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia. The team faced off against the Toledo University Rockets of the Mid-American Conference and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks of the Patriot League.
