Elon University’s assistant dean for campus life and director of residence life will be leaving her position in January. MarQuita Barker, who has been at Elon since 2008, will take on a new role at Knox College, in Illinois, as vice president for student development. Barker will start in this position on Jan. 10, 2022, according to a press release.

In her role at Elon, Barker leads residence life — managing and planning for about 4,000 undergraduate students who live on-campus at Elon. Barker also works with and manages over 100 student employees and over 20 full-time, part-time professional and graduate staff. Barker has also served as the senior associate director of campus life, associate director of residence life operations and assistant director in the office of residence life and multicultural center at Elon.
