The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy was established by former president Barack Obama in June 2012. President Donald Trump rescinded the policy Sept. 5. Two days later, Trump tweeted, “For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about - No action!” Now, the future is unclear for the thousands of people enrolled in this program.

Gate deters drivers in Danieley Neighborhood

When students returned to campus, they found the Colonnades and Danieley residential neighborhoods divided by a gate. Located next to the Violet Hoffman Daniel Commons Building, this gate has been a roadblock for students driving to their classes. “I sat in front of it for a minute, but it did not open.

Elon senior arrested in drunk driving incident

Elon University senior Haley Muratore was arrested Friday night on a charge of driving while impaired. According to the Elon Police Department, Muratore was driving on East Trollinger Avenue when her vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole.

First year head coach Curt Cignetti is officially a winner at Elon University. In his second game, the Phoenix football team defeated Furman University 34-31 after a field goal by freshman kicker Owen Johnson with five seconds left.

Phoenix maintains shutout streak on soccer field

The Elon University men’s soccer team is off to a dominant start. After starting the season with a 0-0 draw against out-of conference opponent Fordham, the Phoenix has collected two shutout wins against the University of Central Florida and Presbyterian College by scores of 1-0 and 2-0, respectively.

Students, administration have different opinions about campus parking situation

Elon University has 5,390 parking spaces — according to University Architect and Director of Planning, Design and Construction Management Brad Moore, that is more than enough. In 2016, the Town of Elon's governing board, the Board of Alderman, added a university clause to their parking regulations which would've required Elon to construct an additional 1,000 parking spaces.

The Lone Stand of a Common Soldier

In less than 15 minutes, Elon University students can find themselves standing at the base of a confederate statue located on the north side of the Alamance County Historic Courthouse. The 30-foot-high, marble and granite statue dedicated to the 1,100 men from Alamance County who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War has been causing debate throughout the city.

Phoenix comes up short in Cignetti debut

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Elon University football team dropped its 2017 opener Thursday night against the University of Toledo 47-13. The Curt Cignetti era got off to a rocky start as the offense struggled to get anything going throughout the game. Elon played eight true-freshman during the game in addition to its head coach’s debut.
