The Elon University women’s soccer team had a difficult end to its season in 2014. After a victory over the University of Delaware on Senior Day, the Phoenix had to travel to the College of William & Mary, Towson University and James Madison University to conclude its season. The result: three losses, two of which were shutouts, on the road in the span of seven days. Any hope that the team wouldn’t have an end-of-season road trip again was thwarted when the schedule was released.
The scene was depressing, with blank stares across many Elon University men’s soccer players’ faces as they coped with their loss to Northeastern University in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament. Their chances at a fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth had all but disappeared. Without a doubt, that loss still stings.

When word got out that rising sophomore Elijah Bryant planned to leave Elon University, many speculated as to the reason the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year chose to leave. Earlier this week, Bryant committed to Brigham Young University over Butler University, University of Miami and University of Dayton, all of which offered him. Questions still remained, as Bryant did not respond to requests from The Pendulum and other media outlets that covering Elon.

Elon University associate head baseball coach Greg Starbuck has taken a position as a volunteer assistant at Clemson University, new Tigers coach Monte Lee announced Tuesday. Starbuck, 51, spent the last 17 years at Elon as the recruiting coordinator and batting and baserunning instructor. At Clemson, he'll work with hitters, infielders and catchers. The move breaks up one of the longest-tenured coaching staffs in all of Division I baseball.
