The Phoenix goes on the road to the University of Richmond on Thurs, Nov. 18.
The Phoenix return to action on Thursday, Nov. 18 in the first round of the Charleston Classic, a three-day invitational in South Carolina, against the West Virginia University Mountaineers, a member of the Big 12 conference.
Elon finishes its season with a 9-8-2 record and is still searching for its first CAA Tournament championship.
With Saturday’s win against Towson, the Phoenix are 5-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Elon faces the University of Rhode Island on Senior Day at Rhodes Stadium on November 20 to close the season. A win against Rhode Island would give the program its first winning season since 2018, when the Phoenix also finished 6-5.
The Elon University men’s basketball team came away from its 2021 home opener with its first win of the season, as the Phoenix defeated the Randolph College WildCats in an impressive offensive display, 107-62.
Elon University’s cross country teams completed the team portion of their seasons at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet, with the women’s team placing ninth and the men’s team 21st. The NCAA will announce 13 at-large selections for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. Neither Elon’s men’s or women’s team has ever earned an at-large selection to the event.
Elon will face the Hofstra University Pride in the championship match on Sunday at 1 p.m. The winner of the match will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Before the Phoenix, Elon sports were represented by the Fightin’ Christians, a mascot that has evolved with the university since the 1920s. Now, the Phoenix celebrates 21 years as Elon’s mascot.
The Phoenix will return to action on Friday, Nov. 12 for its home opener against the Randolph College WildCats, an NCAA Division III opponent.
The Phoenix take on the Howard University Bison in its home opener on Monday, Nov. 15.
The match at the Hofstra University Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, New York, will begin at 7:30 p.m. The winner will face either the fourth seeded Drexel University Dragons or the first seeded Hofstra University Pride in Sunday’s championship match.
Elon is the only team in the conference that will not play any matches next weekend, but the record-breaking Phoenix will look to capture its first ever CAA championship in two weeks' time.

The result of a game, practice or test can lead to mental and physical health issues in athletes.
It was a game that Elon was never supposed to win, according to Elon native Kemper Wyatt. Wyatt is in possession of unique memorabilia for Elon’s back to back championship winning games in 1980 and 1981.
While JMU’s move could impact the remaining team sport’s seasons at Elon, the Dukes, currently #3 in the Football Championship Subdivision, will still be able to receive the CAA’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs due to football’s separate bylaws.
