ELN: Elonthon raised almost 40% less at first in-person event in three years

Elonthon raised a total of $134,364 for kids at Duke Children’s Hospital this weekend. The 13.1-hour event raised 39% less than it did at its last fully in-person event in 2019. The total that year was nearly $350,000 and the event was 24 hours long.

Town of Elon Board of Aldermen special meeting about Aspen Avenue postponed

Eighteen town of Elon residents came to the meeting to show their support for closing the road. Elon residents expressed discontentment about Aspen Avenue being used as the main entrance of the new Owen Park Subdivision in Gibsonville last week, as well, at the board’s work session.

Elon University baseball players to play with Burlington Sock Puppets

The Sock Puppets’ season begins June 2 —  five days after the final game of the Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Championship — and will play their home opener on June 6. The team’s final regular season game is scheduled for Aug. 6.

Elon plays its first match against a Colonial Athletic Association opponent on April 5 when the team travels to play at James Madison University. Shade said the team is working to peak for the upcoming CAA Tournament, which Elon will host beginning on April 22.

The Phoenix is now 5-7 in the season and will travel to play the James Madison University Dukes on April 9 for their third Colonial Athletic Association game of the season. The Dukes are ranked 11th in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse with a record of 7-4.
