Phoenix can't put out Flames of Liberty, falls 13-9

The Elon University women’s lacrosse team fell, 13-9, to the Flames of Liberty University Feb. 21. In only its second game of the season, the Phoenix battled offensively, putting up 26 shots, landing 22 on goal, and nine in the back of the net from five different Elon players.

Phoenix escapes thriller with Purple Eagles

Sophomore right fielder Emily Cameron strolled up to the plate confidently, knowing exactly what she needed to do. The Elon University softball team was tied with Niagara University in the bottom of the eighth, the game’s first extra inning, and the go-ahead run was 60 feet away in the person of freshman left fielder Alaina Hall.

Phoenix travels to Wilmington for tough weekend matches

Having played just twice since the end of January, the Elon University men’s tennis team is looking forward to finally getting back on the court. Women's tennis looking to build off tough nonconference slate

A front of winter weather swept through the entire southeast Feb. 12-14, forcing nearly every Elon University athletic team, including the women’s tennis team, to reconfigure its schedule. Tennis scoring changes leave mixed results for Elon

Even though the Elon University men’s tennis team is coming off a Southern Conference regular season championship in 2013, the team had something new to adjust to at the start of this year — a new scoring system. The NCAA and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) decided both men’s and women’s teams would play an early portion of their schedules under a new experimental scoring system in an attempt to shorten the matches.

Elon University, Go Baby Go modify cars for children with mobility challenges

Elon University’s Innovation Hall was filled with the high-pitched hums of electric motors and the sounds of childhood play April 4. The noises came from the first Go Baby Go program at Elon, where the community takes standard electric toy cars and adapts them for children who cannot traditionally operate one.

Women’s lacrosse overcomes early deficit, earns impressive Senior Day win

The Elon women’s lacrosse team capped off their Senior Day with an impressive 9-4 win over William & Mary. In a game that was delayed by four hours from its initial start time at noon due to a chemical spill, the Phoenix furiously rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to outscore the Tribe 9-1 the rest of the way. The victory moves Elon back up to .500 at 6-6.
