The working group for diversity, equity and inclusion of the academic council — the governing body over faculty — is working to include information addressing bias in the faculty handbook, particularly with regard to evaluation for faculty. The university is also working to redesign the bias response system and will debut a new training program for all university employees.
Feb. 22 through 26 is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, which will coincide with the sixth year of Campus Recreation and Wellness’ Love Your Body Week. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced at a press conference on Wednesday that the modified stay-at-home order in the state will be lifted on Friday at 5 p.m. The order, which was originally put in place after North Carolina saw an influx of COVID-19 cases after the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, is being lifted after the state has seen a downward trend in cases for the last few months, according to Cooper.
After the National Labor Relations Board reaffirmed the non-tenure track faculty members’ right to unionize, Elon University’s Academic Council and chapter of the Association of American University Professors both released statements urging the university to begin bargaining with the union.
Greek life organizations, the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils, are now working to revise their plans for recruitment after Elon University ordered all fraternity and sorority activity to move to completely virtual environments.
