Elon women’s soccer wins first-ever Colonial Athletic Association championship after defeating No. 1 seed in the south division, University of North Carolina at Wilmington 1-0, propelling the Phoenix to the NCAA tournament. The team had their fourth straight shutout win.

Elon women’s lacrosse has won five games straight, defeating teams both in and out of their conference such as James Madison University, Furman University and Radford University. Despite their 5-0 record, head coach Josh Hexter said the record does not matter when it comes to preparing to compete.

Elon University will begin administering Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to students, faculty and staff on campus this Saturday by appointment, according to an email sent to those eligible to receive the vaccine. Any faculty and staff working in person or students with a qualifying medical condition have been notified if they are eligible to sign up for the vaccine.

Elon men’s basketball faces off against Drexel tonight in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game. If the Phoenix win, they’ll head to the NCAA March Madness tournament for the first time in program history. The winning team will also be crowned CAA champions, which would be another first for Elon’s program. If they lose, their season will be over.

Elon University football struggled to maintain their lead, resulting in a 20-17 loss against James Madison University in their first conference matchup of the season. Freshman and third-string quarterback JR Martin made his season debut, due to the first and second string both being out for injuries.

Feb. 22 through 26 is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, which will coincide with the sixth year of Campus Recreation and Wellness’ Love Your Body Week. Campus Rec is working in partnership with Counseling Services, Elon Dining, the Produce Box and several other sponsors to create a week of events to promote all aspects of loving one’s body mentally, physically and emotionally.

Following two postponed games, the Elon University men’s basketball team took the hardwood against the James Madison University Dukes at Schar Center for the first time since December in a Tuesday-evening Colonial Athletic Association matchup. The Dukes came out victorious 70-61 on the back of senior guard Matt Lewis’ 22 points.

Senior Kodi Garcia wakes up, showers, goes to class, meets with her adviser, heads to the gym for treatment, goes to practice, lifts, showers again and then goes to tutoring. If she has time, she then hangs out with her friends. This is another day not only in the life of a college student but as a senior on the volleyball team.

When Elon University chose to transition to remote instruction in March and later began to prepare for an in-person fall semester, President Connie Book needed more input on how to make the correct decision about the direction of the school. That guidance came from six members of the 35-person Elon Board of Trustees.
