Elon Women’s soccer (7-2-1) defeated the UNC Wilmington Seahawks (4-4-0) 3-1 on Thursday night. They looked to come away victorious against the former Elon head coach Chris Neal who is now in his second year at the helm of UNCW.

 Elon football (2-2) lost 49-7 to Wake Forest University (4-0) Saturday. The Phoenix fall to 0-11-1 all-time against the Demon Deacons. With this loss, the team is now 0-12 against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents since the team moved to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

Elon men's soccer defeats Appalachian State, redeems Saturday blowout

Elon Men’s soccer (2-3-1) defeated Appalachian State University (4-2) on Tuesday night by a score of 1-0. The game marked their first win since the season opener, and avenged the blowout loss suffered at the hands of rival James Madison University on Saturday.

The past, present and future of the JMU & Elon rivalry

In 2014, Elon University left the Southern Conference to join the Colonial Athletic Association. The James Madison University Dukes joined the conference in 1985 and in recent years have been the dominant name in the CAA in nearly all sports. JMU joined the CAA during its inception in 1979 and since then have collected 88 conference championships across 18 D-1 sports. The Phoenix and Dukes have become unofficial rivals in the past five years due to close matches, back and forth series and connecting storylines.

Last year, Elon University men’s soccer team graduated veteran goalie Matthew Jegier ’19, who had started and played in all but two games in his career as a Phoenix. He was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team in 2017.

The Elon Phoenix women’s soccer team played the Liberty University Flames tied for the first time this season, 1-1. Despite Liberty holding a 1-4-1 record before playing the Phoenix, head coach Neil Payne said he expected the result.

Reigning CAA Men's Golfer of the Year transfers after physical altercation with Director of Athletics' son

The reigning Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Golfer of the Year and conference Leadership and Ethics Award winner will not be returning to finish his collegiate career in maroon and gold. William Harwood transferred to the University of Memphis following an altercation last spring with former teammate Dustin Blank, son of Elon University’s Director of Athletics, Dave Blank.

FloSports: New program changes access to Elon

From now on, streaming Elon University sports may come with a price. The Colonial Athletic Association has signed a three-year contract with FloSports, an online streaming service in which users must pay for subscriptions. The payments will assist the CAA in bringing in revenue.
