Elon University baseball team wins fifth straight game

With the win, the Phoenix improved to 24-22 on the season, with an 8-10 record in conference play. The team is currently the sixth and last team in position to qualify for the CAA tournament, which will be played at Latham Park starting May 25.

Elon University softball team upsets Delaware, advances to final day of CAA Tournament

Elon will play the University of North Carolina Wilmington for the CAA championship tomorrow. Wilmington is undefeated in the tournament, meaning Elon will need to beat them two times to win the tournament. The teams will play at 10 a.m. in the first game tomorrow and will play again at 12:30 p.m. in a winner-take-all game if Elon wins.

Elon University softball team falls to No. 1 seeded Delaware 1-0 in CAA Tournament

As the CAA Softball Tournament uses a double elimination bracket, the Phoenix get a chance to return to its home park and fight for its spot in the tournament. Elon will play at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow against either College of Charleston or Hofstra University.

Elon University softball shuts out College of Charleston to open up CAA Tournament

With the win, Elon is set to play the number one seeded University of Delaware Blue Hens at 4 p.m. The last time the Phoenix played the Blue Hens was at Delaware, as Elon was swept in a three game series. Head coach Kathy Bocock said she sees this game going differently.

Elon University baseball cruises against North Carolina A&T

The Phoenix ended the game victorious, but that was not the only victory accomplished by the team. After the game, the team assembled outside the dugout with three chairs, tarps and clippers. One by one, 24 Phoenix players and three coaches made their way to the chairs to participate in a “haircut auction” in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Steve Carter is seeking reelection in the 2022 Alamance County Board of Commissioners race and is the winner of the primary election. Carter received 6,431 ballots, which is 33.88% of the votes.

Campaigning for US House of Representatives: Ashley Ward hopes to address climate change, access to education

For district four congressional candidate Ashley Ward, being elected to congress would not just be a personal victory. If elected, she will be able to bring her specific expertise in climate change to the Congress floor. While Ward said it would be a great honor to bring climate change to the forefront, she wishes someone with climate expertise had been elected earlier and brought climate issues to the congress floor.

Elon University’s Gardening Club hosts annual Strawberry Festival before finals

The Strawberry Festival had a plant adoption table, strawberry ice cream provided by Elon Dining and plants being grown in the greenhouse, including lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant. The event also had a live performance by several musicians, along with corn hole and spike ball.

Local Friends creates home away from home for Elon University international students

For Donna and Ralph Harwood, the global community is a small world. Though the married couple were both raised in South Carolina and have lived in the town of Elon for over 40 years, they have friends from all over the world — including international students at Elon University.
