Answering the call: two freshmen bring energy to a veteran team

They might not have the most recognizable names on Elon University men’s basketball team, but they are making a name for themselves on the court. Two freshmen have been averaging eight minutes per game and helping the Phoenix squad capture much-needed wins as March approaches. Freshman guard Seth Fuller and freshman forward Simon Wright are both making the most of their first seasons playing on the team.

Elon holds 2018 Black Solidarity Day Conference

Members of the black community gathered together on Saturday morning for the fourth annual Black Solidarity Day Conference. The meeting was held in the Koury Business Center and was one of several events in February to honor black contributions to the campus.

Elon University's Student Government Association (SGA) is holding elections soon, and it's up to YOU who represents your class and study body in 2018-2019 . Voting will run from Monday, February 19th until 5 p.m. February 20th.

A slice of creativity at Pandora's Pies

The double sided chalkboard sits right outside of Pandora’s and every couple of days features a new witty slogan, about pizza, beer, or their specials.  Brittney Tillman is the brains behind the sign. Brittney has been working at Pandora’s for the past six years and decided to take on the task of designing the chalkboard herself.

Mediterranean Deli opening Feb. 28, according to owner

Jamil Kadoura is just as anxious to open the Mediterranean Deli, Bakery and Catering in Park Place as the rest of the Elon University community is to welcome it.  “I’m really excited,” Kadoura, owner of Mediterranean Deli, Bakery and Catering said. “I want this to be over with. It’s been like, a year and a half! We wanted to do it the right way, it’s very important to bring it in not too fast and not make mistakes.”

InterVarsity staff member makes final remarks before permanent sabbatical

Tears were shed by both students and staff alike as Doug Arms, an InterVarsity staff member, gave his final address before leaving for a sabbatical he will not return from. In December, Arms announced through a video shared with IV members, that he had been asked by the Elon University chaplains to step down from his position permanently.

Elon dominates College of Charleston in Play4Kay Game

Capturing its 16th-straight win in Alumni Gym, the Elon University women's basketball team dominated the College of Charleston 97-44 in their annual Play4Kay game. Just shy of the centennial mark, the Phoenix set the record for most points in a Division I conference game.    Five Elon players finished the night in the double figures. Senior guard Shay Burnett and freshman forward Jaylin Powell each had 15 points on the night, sophomore center Ra'Shika White scored 13, and sophomore guard Lexi Mercer and senior center Malaya Johnson each captured 10. This is the third time this season that the team has had five players reaching double figures.
