Students film biggest budgeted movie in Elon’s history over Fall Break

Over the span of nine days, 37 Elon University students were running around with cameras, props and actors, spending around 13 hours a day filming “Providence,” a short film written and directed by senior Kenner Clark. Taking place in a rural college town in North Carolina, “Providence” follows four characters that become entangled in a crime of passion and how a deteriorating relationship reaches its breaking point in 36 hours.

Agu’s brace not enough for men's soccer vs. Delaware

The difficult Homecoming Saturday continued late into the evening for the Elon University athletics teams as the men's soccer team lost to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival University of Delaware 3-2 at Rudd Field. The Phoenix’s two first-half goals from junior striker Elijah Agu proved to be in vain, as the Blue Hens were able to recover from a 2-1 deficit to get the win at Rudd Field by a score of 3-2 on Saturday night.

Football drops Homecoming game to Richmond

The Elon University football team kept it close against the sixth-ranked University of Richmond in the first half, but the Spiders turned on the jets after halftime en route to a 35-7 win Saturday afternoon at Rhodes Stadium. The Phoenix only trailed 6-0 after two quarters during the Homecoming game, but the Spiders scored touchdowns on their first four possession after the break. “Early on, we came out pretty competitive in the first half and made some big stops,” said Elon head coach Rich Skrosky.

When Elon first-year Jess Avellino was a child, she was “obsessed” with Willy Wonka. Now she's a published screenwriter--her musical "Black Heart" was performed in Scotland this past summer.

Homecoming 2016: J. Earl Danieley stars in Schar Center groundbreaking ceremony

The expected people were in attendance — President Leo Lambert, Director of Athletics Dave Blank, Chair of the Board of Trustees Kerri Anderson '79, several dozen donors, the basketball and volleyball teams — but it was former Elon University President J. Earl Danieley who stole the show at the Schar Center groundbreaking ceremony this today at 5:15 p.m. "I know he's had some days where he hasn't been out as much, but Elon athletics owes a lot to Dr. D and the waving of the towel, so [it was] good to see Dr. D out and about," said men's basketball head coach Matt Matheny.

Men's soccer prepares for home stretch

For the Elon University men’s soccer team, the schedule has worked out for a massive two-week  home stretch that starts tomorrow night. The Phoenix hosts four matches in the 12 days, including three Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) matches against the top three teams in the conference.
