Former professor files 2,270 page response in 2017 discrimination case against Elon

A year after the start of former assistant professor Michael Rodriguez's discrimination lawsuit against Elon University, the next step of his case has been taken. On Jan. 19, Rodriguez filed 2,270 pages worth of declarations and exhibits in response to Elon’s motion to dismiss his case.

New McEwen Dining options announced, no longer includes Chick-fil-A

New dining options were announced for McEwen Dining Hall Tuesday, Jan. 23. The dining options have expanded, but now exclude Chick-fil-A.

Head coach Chris Neal is stepping down from the helm of the program after 10 years to take a coaching job at the University of Arkansas, Director of Athletics Dave Blank announced this morning.

The assistant director for the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education (CREDE), Bell, knew that the event was celebrated annually at Elon University, a similar trend for the majority of college campuses. But Bell wanted to be different in honoring the civil rights icon. When he sat down to think, the question Bell wanted answered was how Elon would do the greatest amount of service involving the most amount of people. 

Greek Life: Through the haze

In recent months, the conversation around hazing has become a national conversation. In 2017, four student deaths involving hazing became viral stories, bringing the conversation around the all-too-frequent Greek life practice to Elon. According to the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, 42 percent of Elon’s student population belongs to a Greek organization. With National Panhellenic and the Interfraternity Council recruitment happening at the end of the month, Elon said it is preparing to counteract the hazing trend, should it arise.
