The Elon University women’s basketball team will look to build on the momentum gained from this contest as the Phoenix look to pick up another win against a Colonial Athletic Association opponent, the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks. The Phoenix will welcome the Seahawks to the Schar Center on Feb. 23, for a Wednesday night showdown. The Phoenix will look to extend its win streak to five games.
When asked about his expectations for the upcoming season, head coach Mike Kennedy said how important improvement in pitching was for the team as they enter the spring season.
The Phoenix will end its season on a two-game road trip beginning with a matchup on Thursday, Feb. 24 against Hofstra. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. on FloSports.
The Phoenix once again face the Stags on Sunday at noon in the final game of the team’s opening series.
The Phoenix will be back at Hunt Park for a doubleheader against the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Elon will play Fairfield again Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. to complete its first series of the season.
Women in STEM: Elon — a student organization formed early last spring, provides a community of individuals who aspire to support women in all disciplines within the science, technology, engineering and math fields, according to their president Anna Sheinberg.
The sustainability plan also incorporates the Elon Green Building Policy from 2009, which says any new construction or renovations exceeding 8,000 square feet of conditioned, occupied space will achieve LEED certification, preferably at the Silver level.
When a book is placed on a banned book list, Owner of Persnickety Books Ian Baltutis notices — right before the title flies off the shelf. The Burlington used bookstore has everything from textbooks and classics to graphic novels and children’s chapter books, and Baltutis said banned books find their ways onto the shelves, too.

SGA’s next business meeting will be March 3, and the election packet will open March 1, beginning the election process.
According to Seneca Rogers, a candidate for the Alamance Board of Education, the need for more meeting spaces throughout Burlington has been a goal for many members of the Black community. These spaces can be used for civic engagement, meetings with personal agendas and, most importantly, a place to express voices.
Despite the high vaccination rate and decrease in daily positive cases at Elon since mid-January, some professors have concerns of what the Elon environment will soon look like.
The trips will be returning to communities outside of North Carolina and creating partnerships to cause a lasting impact with their service, no matter how small the task, according to senior Zoë Rein.
Elon continues its season opening nine-game homestand on Friday, Feb. 18 with a pair of games against the Providence University Friars.
Vital Signs, a co-ed a cappella group at Elon University, is hosting their ninth annual Make-A-Wish fundraiser concert at 7 p.m. on Feb. 19 in Whitley Auditorium. This is one of three concerts Vital Signs performs throughout the academic year. Their fundraising goal, same as every year, is $10,000.
Elon will play Hofstra again on Feb. 24 in Hempstead, New York. The Phoenix continues its three game homestand on Thursday, Feb. 17 against the University of Delaware Blue Hens. The game at Schar Center will begin at 7 p.m.
Juneteenth will now be an official holiday in the town of Elon, after a unanimous vote in the Board of Aldermen meeting on Feb. 15. The board also passed a new land development ordinance.
The classic cartoon car is moving to Florida where a new owner will keep it on the road.
