Luke Eddy looks to overcome injury for 2015-2016 season comeback

For as long as he can remember, Luke Eddy has made countless layups over his basketball career. But on the night of December 20, 2014 against the UNCG Spartans, one layup changed his life forever. Elon softball strikes out hunger in Alamance County

Most college students spend their Friday evenings going out and hanging with friends. For members of the Elon softball team, they spent their evening at Allied Churches of Alamance County handing out food to the those in need. Patrons lined up outside the Burlington shelter anxiously awaiting a dinner featuring turkey and cheese sandwiches, salad and various tasty desserts.

Elon Football Player Arrested

The Alamance County Clerk of Courts says Cordell Wesley Forrest, a 19-year old Elon freshman and defensive back for the Elon University football team, was arrested and charged Monday with first-degree felony burglary. According to the incident report, police responded to a burglary call just before midnight at the Danieley O Center. Alamance County Jail says Forrest has posted his $50,000 bond. According to Elon Athletics spokesperson Chris Rash, Forrest has been "suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules." The Charlotte native redshirted during the 2014 football season and recorded two tackles in the teams' spring game just two weeks ago. Police lifted fingerprints from the scene that have been registered as evidence in the case.

Aaron Mellette Returns to the NFL

Former Elon football player Aaron Mellette is back in the National Football League. The two-time first team FCS All-American announced Monday evening that he signed a deal with the New York Jets via Instagram. "\0x2028All I can say is how blessed I am for being afforded another chance to pursue my dream" he wrote as the caption.

No. 2 UNC blows past Elon women's lacrosse

The Elon women's lacrosse team fell 21-2 to the No. 2 ranked UNC Tar Heels Sunday, Mar. 1, in what as a rather one-sided contest. The Tar Heels (5-1) rolled early on, scoring 16 goals in the opening half.

Elon losing streak reaches five games as Phoenix fall in Williamsburg

A long two week stretch of losing continued for the Elon Men's Basketball team as the Phoenix fell for the fifth consecutive game, 58-77 on the road Wednesday night against William and Mary. Elon (11-15, 3-10) has dropped nine of its last ten games and sits only above College of Charleston in the CAA standings. William & Mary (16-8, 10-3) got out in front early, scoring 42 points in the first half.

Legendary North Carolina basketball coach dies at age 83

Former University of North Carolina head basketball coach, Dean Smith, died Saturday evening in Chapel Hill at age 83. "Coach Dean Smith passed away peacefully the evening of February 7 at his home in Chapel Hill, and surrounded by his wife and five children," said the Smith family in a statement.

Three-Pointers Propel Elon Past Towson

TOWSON, Md. -- The Elon Women's Basketball team scored a program record 15 three-point shots on its way to an 84-70 victory over Towson Thursday evening, sweeping the season series. Senior Zora Stephenson led the way with six three-pointers made.
