Elon University men’s soccer shuts out Milwaukee in season opener

For the second straight season, sophomore midfielder Scott Vatne scored a crucial goal for the Elon University men’s soccer team in its first regular season game, as a successful header in the 25th minute proved to be the game-winning tally in Elon’s 2-0 victory against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers.

Elon senior Bethany Harford was emotional when she stepped onto the pitch at Rudd Field prior to the Elon University women’s soccer team’s season opener against the American University Eagles. After missing all of last season due to injury, Harford felt relieved to be back playing again.

First two rounds nearly finished at Wyndham Championship in Greensboro

 A 30 minute drive from Elon, Sedgefield Country Club has hosted the Wyndham Championship since 2008. This is the only major professional sporting event that Greensboro hosts annually.

Elon University golfer reflects on winning amateur tournament

Elon University golfer and Madrid native Juan Callejo Ropero felt nervous as he played the final day of last weekend’s Madrid Amateur Men’s Championship. Winless since 2019, Callejo Ropero made a birdie on the final hole securing a two-shot victory in his home tournament.

Each morning, he wakes up at 5 a.m. for practice before heading to Greensboro for his internship with the United States Marshal Service. On some days, he has practice again when the work day concludes.

Carolina Panthers waive former Elon quarterback Davis Cheek

Just two weeks before the beginning of the team’s training camp, the Carolina Panthers have waived former Elon University quarterback Davis Cheek. The move comes six days after the Panthers acquired quarterback Baker Mayfield, the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, from the Cleveland Browns via trade.
