Elon Dining employee dies of heart attack

Brightening everybody's day is what co-workers will remember most about Elon Dining employee Sharon Paylor, who died Wednesday, Jan. 2, after suffering a heart attack on her way to work at Fountain Market on the first floor of Clohan Hall.

Former employee files for an appeal following court loss to Elon

Former custodian Teofilo Matias has filed for an appeal following his civil court case loss to Elon University on Nov. 26. According to the original lawsuit filed in May 2017, Matias was employed by Elon for 17 years as a custodian before being fired in February 2016 following a sexual harassment investigation.

Football welcomes in new recruiting class

In Tony Trisciani's first official week as the new head coach of Elon University football, he has helped seal the deal with 11 future student-athletes. These players have all signed their National Letters of Intent to play in the 2019-2020 season. Five of the 11 are from North Carolina.

Black study abroad participation stalls as minority numbers increase overall

Between the 2015-2016 and 2017-2018 academic years, the numbers of Elon University’s non-white students studying abroad increased from 9 to 17.3 percent. Despite those gains, black participation went up less than 1 percent — from 3 to 3.3 percent of all undergraduates studying abroad — though from 2015 to 2018, the percentage of black students at Elon increased by more than 8 percent.
