SoCon regular season champion Elon men's tennis releases 2014 slate

Elon University men’s tennis, which returns its entire starting lineup from last year’s Southern Conference regular season Champion team, has announced its 2014 schedule. The Phoenix and coach Michael Leonard welcomes back SoCon Player of the Year and senior Cam Silverman, in addition to his doubles partner, junior Stefan Fortmann. Similar to the women’s tennis squad, the men’s team will travel to the prestigious ITA Division I Kick-off Weekend on Jan.

Elon women's tennis schedule highlighted by ITA Kickoff Weekend

After going 21-4 a year ago and finishing ranked No. 66 overall by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), coach Elizabeth Anderson and the Elon University Women’s Tennis team will play a tough nonconference schedule in the 2014 season. The Phoenix open up against Virginia Tech and University of North Carolina from the ACC, before heading south to Athens, Georgia, to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend with annually hosts some of the nation’s top teams and programs.

United States files for extension in Alexis Gray's trial

Federal attorneys representing the United States of America are asking a federal judge to extend their time to respond to the defense's motion of particulars from December 9 to December 16. The United States was told to respond to Alexis Gray's attorneys requests for details on Gray's alleged intent to kill, injure or harass and for any information on what "crime of violence" Gray is accused of committing. Gray, 20 of Holland, Pennsylvania, is facing a federal felony charge of traveling in interstate commerce to commit a crime of violence against a dating partner. Gray was arrested last November outside the Danieley Center at Elon with a rifle in her car.

Elon women's basketball loses big to Wolfpack

The Elon University women’s basketball team knew it was faced with an uphill battle against North Carolina State University at Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The Phoenix was unable to respond to that battle, and was beaten handily by the Wolfpack, 91-51, on Sunday, Dec.

San Francisco gears up for NFC West showdown with Seattle

With four weeks left in the NFL season, 29 of the 32 teams are still mathematically alive. While many need a miracle to make the playoffs, one team has already clinched their spot: the Seattle Seahawks. Reigning SoCon Tournament champion Elon baseball releases 2014 schedule

Building off a Southern Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth a year ago, the Elon University baseball team has released another challenging slate for the 2014 season. Head coach Mike Kennedy’s team went 34-31 in 2013, defeating The Citadel in the SoCon Championship game and advancing to the Charlottesville Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
