Elon University’s Student Government Association appointed six senators and two finance board members, as well as elected two current senators as the new speaker pro tempore and parliamentarian at the April 16 business meeting. Sophomore Chris Guider was elected speaker pro tempore and junior Murphy Davis was elected parliamentarian.
The senators appointed at the meeting were junior Brennan Davis, sophomore Luke Kopacz, sophomore Elyssa Goldstein, sophomore Julian Miller, freshman Mira Iyer and junior Hallel Capelle. Class of 2028 Senator Julian Miller said he was excited to get his first inside look at SGA and see the good that can be done through the organization.
“I’m really looking forward to getting into conversations with other students,” Miller said. “Especially my class who I would probably be speaking for, but I’m hoping to also be a part of bigger changes that are gonna affect the whole school.”
Appointed to the finance board were Riley Morsberger as a non-senate representative and Jocelyn Gomez as the assistant comptroller. The finance board is made up of four class treasurers, four non-senate representatives, the assistant comptroller and the vice president of finance.
Vice President of Finance Cayce Becker said the meeting has her feeling excited about the future and that she’s impressed by the Senate for this legislative year.
“It’s awesome to see so many new faces in the Senate this year,” Becker said. “I love to see new perspectives and just keep that discussion flowing.”
