When student athletes across America returned to school for a new season this year, a new interim policy was put into place. Finalizing that policy, the NCAA declared that college student-athletes could finally profit off of their name, image and likeness.
The Phoenix hopes to continue its winning streak with two matches against the Northeastern Huskies on Oct. 23 and 24.
Both teams are now set to begin the postseason, beginning with the CAA Championships on Oct. 30. Northeastern University will host the event in Boston.
The Phoenix will next compete at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Oct. 16 and 17. North Carolina State University will host the event, which will take place at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh.
As the only international student on Elon University’s men’s golf team last year, sophomore Pedro Rabadan moved almost 4,000 miles across the world, having to adjust to both American culture as well as life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the victory, Elon maintains its spot atop the Colonial Athletic Association standings, ahead of second place James Madison. Elon is now halfway through its conference schedule and will host two matches against UNC Wilmington next weekend.
Elon’s men’s soccer team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 16, when the team travels to Massachusetts to face the Northeastern University Huskies.
The Phoenix will get a shot at revenge tomorrow, as the two sides will face off again. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
The Phoenix have a bye next week, but return home for their next game on Oct. 23 against New Hampshire University. The game at Rhodes Stadium will begin at 1 p.m.
