Since Alumni Gym closed its doors to athletic competition on March 1, 2018 to pave the way for the new Schar Center, the future of the space has been widely speculated. Larry Mellinger, the Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness, has some answers.

A bomb threat has been issued for Elon University’s campus, according to an email from Jon Dooley, vice president for Student Life. Police evacuated Oaks Apartments until further notice. The Oak House and Belk Library are closed until further notice.

After requesting to return to his former position, Dennis Franks will be rehired as director of campus safety and police. Franks resigned in May to become vice president of protective services at Bank of America.

CAA women's basketball tournament coming to Elon in 2020

The Schar Center has yet to open its doors, but the list of high-caliber events it’s set to host continues to grow. Elon University’s new arena will be the host site for the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Championship, according to a league announcement on Monday.
