Local animal shelters seek to honor Betty White, her legacy

Shelters across the nation are participating in the “Betty White Challenge” on Jan. 17 — what would have been the actress’ 100th birthday — to honor her legacy. What started out as a tweet following her death on Dec. 31, 2021 has now grown into a viral challenge spanning the country.

Campus to have delayed opening Jan. 18

Elon’s campus will delay opening until 12 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 18, according to an email from Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley, because of the freezing weather conditions expected overnight on Jan. 17.

Second half struggles continue for Elon University men’s basketball

The team will have a chance to recover and regroup before facing off against the James Madison University Dukes, who sit at 2-1 in the conference. The two teams have not seen each other since the Phoenix knocked the Dukes out of the CAA tournament last year in a tight 72-71 victory.

Town of Elon Police Department issues warning about tracking via Apple AirTag

In a statement, Chief of Police Kelly Blackwelder said reports of similar situations have been reported in larger cities. If a user finds they are being tracked, Blackwelder specified not to touch or remove the device, but to call local law enforcement immediately.
