After losing three consecutive games in California, Elon men’s basketball (3-4) returned to the familiar hardwood of Schar Center and took down Central Penn College on Tuesday night, beating the Knights 92-59.

Walking out onto the field at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to play Wofford College, no one knew for sure whether or not this would be Elon University football’s last game of the season. The ramifications of the game were very simple: win and advance to play Kennesaw State University the following weekend. Lose – and it was the end of the road for this campaign. While fighting until the last whistle, the Phoenix fell to the Terriers 19-7 and marked the end of a season full of ups and downs for the program. But before Elon got to that point, they had a whirlwind of a season that deserves a rewind.

Sixteen senior Elon University football players made their way from the locker room in Alumni Field House, down the hill behind the north end zone and through the smoke, onto the field one last time at Rhodes Stadium. Running, walking or hobbling, the seniors took to the sod for their final home game.

Elon University football’s hopes of a conference championship came to an end at Rhodes Stadium Saturday when the No. 5 Phoenix (6-3, 4-2) fell to No. 20 Towson University (7-3, 5-2) 41-10. This was Elon’s worst loss of the year and the most points they have given up all year.

Schar Center hosted its first men’s basketball game Friday night. Serenaded by hoop-hungry fans, Elon University men’s basketball team got their spotlight matching up with the the No. 8 team in the country: the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels humbled the Phoenix 116-67, dropping the Phoenix to 1-1 on the season.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate-year guard Cameron Johnson leads all scorers with 16 in the half. Senior guard Sheldon Eberhardt leads the Phoenix with 11 points.

It’s the end of an Elon football journey for senior running back Malcolm Summers. The senior took to Twitter Thursday night to make the announcement. After not playing the previous two games for the Phoenix and with speculation swirling on when, or if, the deep back would return, Summers closed the book officially on his career two days before Elon’s game against the University of Rhode Island.

Elon football (5-2, 3-1) got back into the win column against a struggling University of Richmond (3-5, 1-4) at Rhodes Stadium on Saturday. An unfamiliar-looking Phoenix squad was able to prevail in a seesaw contest that went down to the wire.

Elon football (4-2, 2-1) is taking on University of Richmond (3-4, 1-3) on Saturday, Oct. 20 during Inauguration Weekend in front of their home fans at Rhodes Stadium. The Phoenix is clocking in before the game at No. 11 in the nation in both the FCS Coaches Poll and the STATS FCS Top-25. Elon suffered its first FCS loss of the season last week while on the road against the University of Delaware. This is Elon’s last game before playing three currently-ranked teams to close out the season.
