Men's basketball gets back to winning ways against Central Penn

After losing three consecutive games in California, Elon men’s basketball (3-4) returned to the familiar hardwood of Schar Center and took down Central Penn College on Tuesday night, beating the Knights 92-59.

Postmortem: Reflecting on Elon football's 2018 season

Walking out onto the field at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to play Wofford College, no one knew for sure whether or not this would be Elon University football’s last game of the season. The ramifications of the game were very simple: win and advance to play Kennesaw State University the following weekend. Lose – and it was the end of the road for this campaign. While fighting until the last whistle, the Phoenix fell to the Terriers 19-7 and marked the end of a season full of ups and downs for the program. But before Elon got to that point, they had a whirlwind of a season that deserves a rewind.

Thomas wins CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year

Freshman running back Jaylan Thomas was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Rookie of the Year for 2018 in a press release from the CAA league offices on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

One last time: Senior Day for Elon football

Sixteen senior Elon University football players made their way from the locker room in Alumni Field House, down the hill behind the north end zone and through the smoke, onto the field one last time at Rhodes Stadium. Running, walking or hobbling, the seniors took to the sod for their final home game.

No. 5 Elon stumbles in final home football game against Towson

Elon University football’s hopes of a conference championship came to an end at Rhodes Stadium Saturday when the No. 5 Phoenix (6-3, 4-2) fell to No. 20 Towson University (7-3, 5-2) 41-10. This was Elon’s worst loss of the year and the most points they have given up all year.

UNC basketball dominates in Elon Schar Center opener

Schar Center hosted its first men’s basketball game Friday night. Serenaded by hoop-hungry fans, Elon University men’s basketball team got their spotlight matching up with the the No. 8 team in the country: the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels humbled the Phoenix 116-67, dropping the Phoenix to 1-1 on the season.

Halftime update: Elon vs. UNC

Elon University's men's basketball team is officially settled into their new space. The Phoenix finds itself down 63-45 at the break. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate-year guard Cameron Johnson leads all scorers with 16 in the half. Senior guard Sheldon Eberhardt leads the Phoenix with 11 points.

Elon drops opener to UNC 100-69

Summers enters the winter of his Elon career

It’s the end of an Elon football journey for senior running back Malcolm Summers. The senior took to Twitter Thursday night to make the announcement.  After not playing the previous two games for the Phoenix and with speculation swirling on when, or if, the deep back would return, Summers closed the book officially on his career two days before Elon’s game against the University of Rhode Island.

Elon football sits at No. 5 in mid-season poll

Elon University’s football team clocked in at No. 5 (5-2, 3-1) in the first and only top-10 ranking the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee will release until the final playoff bracket becomes available at the end of the season.

Elon University men’s basketball got their final tune-up before the regular season begins, hosting Randolph College at the Schar Center on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The Phoenix looked well-oiled in their 98-45 victory against the Wildcats.

Football returns to the top 10

Elon University Football (5-2, 3-1) moved to No. 8 in the country in the STATS Top-25 poll and No. 6 in the FCS Coaches Poll following their win on Saturday over the University of Richmond Spiders 38-28. This is the third time this season that Elon has cracked the top 10 this season.

Football bounces back, beats Richmond

Elon football (5-2, 3-1) got back into the win column against a struggling University of Richmond (3-5, 1-4) at Rhodes Stadium on Saturday. An unfamiliar-looking Phoenix squad was able to prevail in a seesaw contest that went down to the wire.

PREVIEW: Elon hosts Richmond

Elon football (4-2, 2-1) is taking on University of Richmond (3-4, 1-3) on Saturday, Oct. 20 during Inauguration Weekend in front of their home fans at Rhodes Stadium. The Phoenix is clocking in before the game at No. 11 in the nation in both the FCS Coaches Poll and the STATS FCS Top-25. Elon suffered its first FCS loss of the season last week while on the road against the University of Delaware. This is Elon’s last game before playing three currently-ranked teams to close out the season.
