Elon University parking lots blocked, roads closed for move-in 2022

Students with a car on campus in the following lots must move their car by Thursday, Aug. 18 at 8:30 p.m. due to families arriving to campus on Friday, Aug. 19 for move-in. Any unauthorized cars in these lots on Friday may be ticketed and/or towed.

Judge reinstates 20-week abortion ban in North Carolina

U.S. District Judge William Osteen reinstated the state’s 1973 abortion ban Wednesday, three years after he ruled it unconstitutional under the federal protections of Roe V. Wade. He said the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade in June erased the justification for his 2019 injunction.

Gov. Cooper appoints Elon’s Sylvia Muñoz to Alamance Community College of Board of Trustees

President’s Address brings sense of hopefulness for Elon University’s academic year

Elon University President Connie Book’s is beginning this academic year with a sense of hopefulness. This morning, she delivered the President’s Address, which officially marks the beginning of the academic year. Book first spoke about meeting with Elon students leaders and preparing for the upcoming year, and she said they all found that building relationships and community was the number one factor for student success.

Elon Medallion recipient, alumnus and former staff member dies

William “Buster” Butler, an Elon alumnus, former staff member and recipient of Elon University’s highest honor, the Elon Medallion, died at age 98 on Aug. 4. Butler received the Elon Medallion in 1996 from then-President Fred Young for his employee service to Elon.

Elon University campus police conduct investigation at Moseley Center

Elon University campus police conducted an investigation at the Moseley Center following a 911 call reporting a suspicious package, according to an Elon E-Alert Aug. 8. Campus police evacuated the building and the alert encouraged people to stay away as the investigation is ongoing and await further instructions.

 A 30 minute drive from Elon, Sedgefield Country Club has hosted the Wyndham Championship since 2008. This is the only major professional sporting event that Greensboro hosts annually.

Alamance Burlington School System introduces new mobile app

The app, which features a number of sections, will allow schools and teachers to communicate important information to the district. It is currently available in the Apple Store for iPhones and soon will be on Google Play Store.
