Mediterranean Deli opening Feb. 28, according to owner

Jamil Kadoura is just as anxious to open the Mediterranean Deli, Bakery and Catering in Park Place as the rest of the Elon University community is to welcome it.  “I’m really excited,” Kadoura, owner of Mediterranean Deli, Bakery and Catering said. “I want this to be over with. It’s been like, a year and a half! We wanted to do it the right way, it’s very important to bring it in not too fast and not make mistakes.”

InterVarsity staff member makes final remarks before permanent sabbatical

Tears were shed by both students and staff alike as Doug Arms, an InterVarsity staff member, gave his final address before leaving for a sabbatical he will not return from. In December, Arms announced through a video shared with IV members, that he had been asked by the Elon University chaplains to step down from his position permanently.

Elon dominates College of Charleston in Play4Kay Game

Capturing its 16th-straight win in Alumni Gym, the Elon University women's basketball team dominated the College of Charleston 97-44 in their annual Play4Kay game. Just shy of the centennial mark, the Phoenix set the record for most points in a Division I conference game.    Five Elon players finished the night in the double figures. Senior guard Shay Burnett and freshman forward Jaylin Powell each had 15 points on the night, sophomore center Ra'Shika White scored 13, and sophomore guard Lexi Mercer and senior center Malaya Johnson each captured 10. This is the third time this season that the team has had five players reaching double figures.

The Preiss company, owners of The Crest Apartments, told residents of Crest building 2020 Friday they won’t be moving back in this semester, according to an email obtained by ENN.

SGA held its second annual Elon Ball last night in Global Commons. Last year, 900 students came to the event. But this year, over 1,200 students dressed up for a fun night filled with music, dancing, food and a red carpet.

Elon University women's basketball took down another CAA top performer in Friday night's game.  With a final score of 70-58, the Phoenix ended the eight-game winning streak of the former first place Drexel Dragon's after defeating James Madison University just six days ago. 

Softball begins season with back-to-back losses

“We’ve got a couple good freshman in our lineup,” seven year veteran head coach Kathy Bocock said. “We are excited for them.”  After a 49er run tied the game again, a Charlotte RBI double and a couple of wild pitches from Elon closing pitcher Kenna Quinn allowed two runners to score, the 49ers were able to put away the Phoenix by a 2-5 margin.

Elon falls to Hofstra in low-scoring performance

The Elon University men's basketball team entered tonight's game in fourth place in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) standings at 6-6, just one game behind 7-5 Hofstra. But the Phoenix couldn't get things moving offensively, falling to the Pride 48-67 in Alumni Gym. After scoring the first field goal 24 seconds into the game, Elon was held scoreless for the first four and a half minutes of the game. Senior guard Dmitri Thompson ended the drought when he buried a three. He had the first five points for the Phoenix.
