Elon punches back-to-back tickets to NCAA Tournament

PHILADELPHIA – The Elon University women's basketball team is going dancing for the second straight year. The No. 3-seeded Elon team knocked off No. 1 Drexel University in the title game of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament 57-45 to claim its second CAA title in a row.

The square footage of Elon’s campus has increased by 47.4 percent just from 2008 to 2017. And there are no signs of the growth, or energy consumption, slowing down.

Senior leadership propels Elon into semifinals of the CAA Tournament

PHILADELPHIA – With 13 points and 10 rebounds, senior captain Malaya Johnson led the Phoenix squad to victory in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament quarterfinals, capturing the team’s 11th-straight win.  The Elon University women’s basketball team, ranked No. 3 in the tournament, made easy work of the College of William & Mary, defeating the No. 6 Tribe 67-50.

Cashing in on phoenix cash

The specific contracts vary by business, but every year, there is an administrative fee of around $100 to $150 to use the phoenix card system. After that, Elon takes anywhere from 2% to 5% of sales.

It's time to right the ship that is Elon men's basketball

After losing the final seven games of the season and bowing out of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament in 40 minutes, the Elon University men’s basketball team is left wondering what happened.  Picked to finish third in the league and having all starters return from last year, it seemed impossible for the Phoenix to finish at the bottom of the league. But after a seven-point loss to the University of Delaware March 3, that’s exactly what happened.

Men's basketball falls short of expectations this season

Elon University men’s basketball had an up and – mostly – down year. After being picked to finish third in the Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA), the team went out in quiet fashion, losing in the first round of the CAA tournament in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Immediately after their first assignment which brought them to College Place with a van load of ten students at 11 p.m. on Thursday. Safe Rides’ operators senior Dan Ford and sophomore Remy Benzel were on Lebanon Avenue waiting for their next assignment discussing what would happen if Safe Rides didn’t exist.

Molly Offstein continues to make progress one year after being struck by car

Elon University cross country runner Molly Offstein continues to make progress in her recovery after being struck by a car while jogging one year ago. On March 6, 2017, Offstein was hit while crossing University Drive at O’Kelly Avenue and sustained multiple serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. While 365 days have gone by, the cross country runners are always thinking of their teammate.

Zagster bicycle-sharing program comes to an end

Last spring, SGA implemented Zagster on Elon's campus–a bike-rental program that allowed students to borrow a bike for three hours at a time from stations at Moseley and Danieley. The program was recently discontinued due to a lack of ridership.
