The Elon women’s basketball season came to a close Friday afternoon March 16 in Raleigh, as the No. 13-seeded Phoenix lost in the first round of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball tournament to the No. 4-seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack 62-35.

The Town of Elon Board of Alderman voted tonight to allow Elon University to display the school of communications ticker facing the downtown of Elon. 

What Elon would look like with Amazon’s second headquarters in the Triangle

In January, Amazon included the Raleigh, NC metropolitan area on their list of 20 finalists for the location of the company’s second headquarters. At least 238 various locations across North America submitted applications to Amazon, according to a report by USA Today.

After coming off its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament last year, the fate of this year’s team was uncertain. Replacing half the squad with freshmen, there was no telling if this would be a make or break year. 

Elon to face N.C. State in 1st round of NCAA Tournament

Nerves ran high for some as the Elon University women’s basketball team waited to see where they will be playing the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  But not head coach Charlotte Smith. “I was pretty relaxed,” she said. “[The show] eventually get to us, so I was pretty calm.” Waiting until the final region was revealed, the No.13-ranked Phoenix faces No. 4 North Carolina State University at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16 in Raleigh.
