Elon University tech takes the spotlight

As the stage lights up in McCrary Theatre, the audience can see the story come to life with the sets, costumes and designs. According to senior stage manager for Elon University’s production of Into the Woods, Sydney Bell, said this is due to the months of hard work by the crew prior to the performance. Bell said that although the technical side of theater is often overlooked by the audience, it is what makes the magic happen.

Elon University Student Government adviser to step down

Following Tuesday’s cabinet session, SGA cabinet members will meet again next Tuesday to vote on changes to the student handbook and there will be no SGA business meeting next week. Instead there will be a financial literacy training next Thursday Feb. 10 open to the student body.

Clohan deli station returns for spring semester

According to past statements from Elon Dining, Clohan went fully plant based at the beginning of the school year to accommodate students' different dietary needs, yet it was unsustainable as this led to other dining halls becoming overcrowded. Elon Dining has previously said that they have frequently changed their menu items based on what students are asking for.

Carolina Sundries opens in downtown Burlington

Carolina Sundries, owned by husband and wife team Casey and Emily Lewis, is a small, local grocery store that focuses on locally-produced brands, sustainability and community building. The store held a soft opening in late January and will have a grand opening on Feb. 5.

NC College Democrats sue State Board of Elections over early voting access

The College Democrats of North Carolina and four college students sued the North Carolina State Board of Elections and several state and local election officials over the denial of on-campus early voting sites for the 2026 primary election. At their meeting Jan. 13, the NCSBE heard from 12 county boards of elections that had not come to unanimous decisions on their early voting plans.

Elon University Feb. 3 classes canceled, offices to close

In-person meetings for undergraduate and graduate classes on Feb. 3 are canceled, Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley announced in an email Feb. 2. Dooley wrote that out of an abundance of caution, the university will have one more day of canceled in-person class meetings and office closures.
